Training

At Ywam Derby we offer training that equips you for living and serving in Cities. Our training empowers you to sustain and grow your relationship with God and gives you skills for a missional lifestyle in an urban context. We aim to explore and equip you to engage with issues such as poverty, homelessness, addiction as well as sharing faith with people from different cultures and beliefs.

"He has showed you, O man, What is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy. And to walk humbly with your God"
Micah 6:8

Urban Missions Discipleship Training School

The Urban Missions DTS gives you the opportunity to discover God's heart for cities and the challenge to share his love, offering hope to broken lives and communities.

The Urban Missions DTS is 9 months, and enables you to encounter God, going deeper in your relationship with Him. You will be equipped to share God's love in challenging areas within inner city and culturally diverse communities. Play your part and join us on the journey to see God's Kingdom come.

How does it work?

  • It's a journey lasting 9 months
  • We serve together as long-term staff and trainees in a live/learn community
  • From the beginning we serve in the mission & outreach within Derby
  • We have 4 weeks overseas outreach in a European city.

Alongside our urban mission our Discipleship Training gives you teaching 2 days each week, focussed on getting to know God personally, deeply and making him known. These teachings include The Character & Nature of God, Father Heart of God, Sin & Repentance, Worship, Intercession, Hearing God's Voice, Evangelism, Spiritual Warfare, Identity in Christ, Faith & Finances, and equip us in the adventure that is our relationship with God and fulfilling the purposes he has prepared for us to do.

The teaching application takes place in a variety of interactive learning styles that includes serving with us in outreach & mission in Derby, small group discussion, Prayer, intercession and hearing God's voice, worship, practical work, as well as you being given responsibilities and tasks to lead and implement for the rest of the team.

The goal of the DTS is for the trainees to know God more and to make Him known.
