Outreach

Outreach is all about sharing what we personally know of God's love with others. Outreach is taking what we believe and putting it into practice. We demonstrate the good news by living out God's values and following His ways to bring transformation to individuals, communities, cities and even nations.

"When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few."
Matt 9:36-37

Imagine a field, with different furrows, ploughed and ready to receive seed that will produce a harvest. Let us introduce you to some of those furrows in Derby.

The Rivers

This location is in the city centre as the name suggest by the river! Young people gather here, they are hurt and broken by family life, and in their longing to know love and find comfort they try to find hope through relationships, alcohol, drugs, pornography to name a few. We have been reaching out to them for 5 years and many have put their trust in us. We take hot chocolate to them, listen and build friendships. Now they also come to us for help, if they are going to court for a crime, or have a particular problem they want to talk through.

YMCA Partnership

An 84 bed hostel and campus for learning and development for young people 16-25yrs. We host a coffee bar in the living room, taking home made cakes, games and provide opportunities to do arts or cooking. We listen, build relationships, share God's love and pray. These young people have experienced much pain and feel worthless. They have little value or purpose nor skills & education. Many at just 16yrs have become homeless and need a safe place to live and a fresh start.

The Nations come to Derby!

We live amidst a large population of ethnic minorities including Muslims, Hindus and Sikhs. 60+ languages are spoken in our community. We reach out to our multicultural neighbours, and enjoy their food, arts & creativity. We share their value of family. Sharing life together grants us the privilege to share our faith and pray for them.

Homeless Drop in & Outreach

This partnership with Ozzy Road Church & Derby City Mission was pioneered with the help of an Urban DTS team in 2009. Each Wednesday 40-50 people have a simple meal, hear a bible story and again find a place of belonging. We give advice & work with government agencies to find housing for those who need it. We also go into the city to meet with the street drinkers. We give food & clothing to them, share God's love and pray for them.

Skateboard Park

The skateboard park is located in the city centre. It's a new park where young people can come down and hang out or skate. Young people ranging in ages from 10-25 come down, skateboard, BMX, roller blade and scooter. we go down with hot chocolate and juice (depending on the weather), and spend time getting to know them and building relationships. These relationships even lead to them teaching us how to skateboard.
